Happy New Year! New job application rules for NOLA contractors

How many of you have completed an employment application that asked whether you've ever been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to any criminal offense? How many of you work for a company that still asks that question (or some variation of it) on its job application or conducts a background check after receiving an initial job application? If you have any contracts with the city of New Orleans that you're hoping to renew or if you want to enter into any contracts with the city, it may be time to revise your application and your procedure for conducting background checks.
