Employers can breathe easy: no new employment laws this year

For the last two months, we've reported on several workplace bills proposed in this year's regular session of the Louisiana Legislature. Several "employee-friendly" employment bills took center stage but failed to garner the support needed to become law. Bills that proposed equal pay for women, wage transparency, an increase in the minimum wage, and amendments to the state's final pay and antidiscrimination statutes all failed to become law. In this final installment of our coverage of the 2017 session, we take a postmortem look at what happened and why and discuss which bills are likely to resurface for consideration in future legislative sessions.
