Equal pay legislation stumbles but still has life

This year's regular session of the Louisiana Legislature has been a busy one for labor and employment issues, with several employee-friendly wage-related bills taking center stage. Bills that would have increased the state minimum wage and given Louisiana employees wage transparency have already been defeated, but several employment-related bills still have the potential to become law. Both the house and the senate are considering bills that would guarantee equal pay for men and women performing the same jobs.
