Potential new LA workplace laws courtesy of the 2017 regular session

The 2017 regular session of the Louisiana Legislature convened in April, and there are several employment bills that, if passed into law, will have a significant impact on employers across the state. Proposed new employment laws include measures that would make it easier to sue for pay discrimination, increase the minimum wage, and expand state antidiscrimination laws. In this initial report of our annual "Legislative Watch" series, we provide an overview of the proposed legislation and discuss the likelihood of whether these bills might become law.
