Ohio law enforcement officer can't establish wrongful discharge claim

An Ohio appeals court recently affirmed a lower court's decision to dismiss an employee's claims of wrongful discharge in violation of public policy and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The court found that although a clear public policy of encouraging law enforcement officials to investigate and report workplace crime exists, the employee's discharge did not jeopardize the public policy.
